My name is pronounced [a-lee-sa]. I am a mama of two. I have a daughter and a son. Motherhood is the most amazing gift and also the hardest things I’ve ever done.
I love coffee, floral design, gardening, travelling, photography, making things cozy, the changing of seasons and brick roads.

Seven years ago my whole world was flipped upside. My mom, my person, was diagnosed with cancer and within 5 months she was gone. One month before the year’s mark of her passing, I had my first child. To say I deeply know the coexistence of joy and sorrow barely scratches the surface.

When I was pregnant and in the early days of deep dark grief, Everglow by Coldplay was a song that was on repeat for me. I felt so strongly that my mom’s light was my daughter growing within me. That this little light inside of me was sent to me, hand picked, by my mom in heaven. I pondered a lot on what my mom’s legacy would be as I was about to welcome my own child and I kept coming back to mom’s legacy as being a light. And that although she wasn’t physically here with me anymore, she would always be with me - a light within, an Everglow. And I named our daughter after this idea of an Everglow. Something we always carry with us, a feeling of love and light that has been passed on and it helps us carry on and share the love given to us to those we have the privilege to love.

My mom’s name is Anna. I named my daughter Everleigh Anna.

After seven years, I feel my heart is finally allowing a little bit of light to break through the cracks and this is where it is leading me. I’m scared. But I’m going to try follow this and hope it can be something beautiful.

I am starting Everglow Mama in honour of my mom.
